Asset Tracking is Here!

Sensos introduces a new way to track reusable assets – cleanly, clearly, and operationally

25 January 2026

Reusable assets are the backbone of many global operations. Toolkits, medical equipment, coolers, containers, and high-value devices move continuously across sites, partners, and borders. Yet most supply chain systems still force teams to track these assets as if they were one-off shipments.

That mismatch creates real operational pain.

Today, many teams resort to workarounds, creating placeholder shipments, reusing shipment records, or bending shipment workflows to fit assets that never truly “complete” a journey. The result is fragmented history, confusing timelines, and eroding trust in the data. When something goes missing or arrives damaged, teams struggle to answer a basic question: Where is the asset right now, and what happened to it?

This is the problem Sensos set out to solve with Asset Tracking.

A Purpose-Built Asset Experience

Asset Tracking introduces a dedicated asset object in Sensos, designed specifically for long-lived, reusable assets. Instead of pretending an asset is a shipment like other visibility providers, users now get a clean, purpose-built experience that focuses on what actually matters operationally:

  • Real-time location based on live label data
  • Condition visibility using existing temperature, shock, and movement alerts
  • A continuous movement history that reflects how assets really travel over time

Immediate Value for Operators and Managers

With Asset Tracking, users can open the new All Assets view under Visibility and instantly see the current status of their assets, using the same familiar layout they already know from shipments.

Clicking into an asset reveals:

  • Its last known location and time since last update
  • Battery status and active alerts
  • A complete, label-based journey view on the map
  • A chronological event log that serves as an audit trail

This clarity translates directly into operational benefits:

  • Faster recovery of misplaced or delayed assets
  • Reduced service downtime caused by missing equipment
  • Clear proof of condition when assets are shared across teams or partners
  • Higher confidence in escalation, claims, and customer communication

For many teams, this also eliminates hours of manual reconciliation and internal back-and-forth just to establish where an asset was last seen.

One Set Model, No New Complexity

Asset Tracking integrates seamlessly with existing Sensos concepts. Assets are assigned to Sets, just like shipments, ensuring consistent label behavior, alert thresholds, and reporting cadence.

Rather than creating separate “asset sets” and adding overhead, Sensos uses a single Set model. Shipment-only fields remain visible but are clearly marked and safely ignored for assets. This avoids duplication, preserves consistency, and minimizes training and configuration effort.

The result is a system that feels immediately familiar, even as it unlocks an entirely new use case.

Built for How Assets Really Move

Assets don’t follow clean start-and-end milestones. They circulate. They pause. They reappear. Asset Tracking reflects this reality by focusing on continuous label telemetry rather than shipment events.

For this initial release, assets are intentionally not linked to shipment records. This keeps journeys clean, timelines trustworthy, and existing shipment workflows stable. At the same time, the data model is designed to support richer asset-shipment relationships in the future, without compromising today’s experience.

Why It Matters

For existing Sensos customers, Asset Tracking replaces fragile workarounds with a first-class capability – strengthening trust in the platform and improving day-to-day operations.

For new customers, especially in asset-heavy industries, it opens the door to using Sensos beyond shipment visibility, without forcing a commitment to full asset management systems.

And for Sensos as a platform, Asset Tracking expands what “visibility” really means: not just knowing where shipments are, but knowing where critical assets are – at all times.
